Origin

Where it all began.

Genome Wood Group grew out of a question that took decades to answer.

In western Bahia, a family of woodworkers recognized, in trees planted by missionaries decades earlier, a wood with rare physical properties — a wood with the qualities of a noble timber at a moment when traditional species were steadily disappearing from the market.


There, a decisive intuition emerged: perhaps it was possible to cultivate, rather than merely extract, the noble timber of the future.


More than 30 years ago, a continuous program of selection and genetic improvement of the Melia family began, driven by the search for a tree capable of uniting wood quality, forest productivity and economic viability.


This work spanned generations and established the scientific foundation that supports Genome Wood Group today. Its first result was a highperformance hybrid cultivar. Its true result was opening a new possibility for noble-timber production in Brazil.

Leadership

He led the development of Mogno Bahia®, running the Melia genetic-improvement program that gave rise to the cultivar. His background brings together knowledge of wood, woodworking and field-applied genetic selection. At GWG, he leads forest operations in Bahia, coordinating management, field production and the continuity of the breeding program.
A chemical engineer with training in business administration and marketing, he took part in the consolidation of eucalyptus forestry in Brazil. For five years he managed 35,000 hectares of plantations in western Bahia. At GWG, he leads the technological development of forest production systems and the organization of field-applied knowledge.
With a degree in Communications from ESPM and an MBA from ESADE Business School, she built her career at the intersection of brand, strategy and socialenvironmental impact initiatives. She was a co-creator of projects such as Origin Network, Cambia Festival, Blockos TV and UniãoBR. At GWG, she leads the company’s brand architecture and strategic communication system.

Investing Partners

An active role in strategic direction, institutional partnerships and the management of GWG. Production Engineer from Poli-USP and MBA from UCLA. He founded Plastrom Tecnologia and was founding partner and CEO of Sensormatic do Brasil. He works to bring to life high-technology projects in clean energy, new materials, immunotherapy and noble-timber reforestation. Sócio investidor com papel ativo na direção estratégica, em parcerias institucionais e na administração da Genome Wood Group. Engenheiro de Produção pela Escola Politécnica da USP e MBA pela Universidade da Califórnia (UCLA), iniciou a carreira como engenheiro industrial na Alcan Alumínio do Brasil e como consultor pela Booz, Allen & Hamilton em projetos no Brasil, EUA, Holanda e Argentina. Em 1987, fundou a Plastrom Tecnologia e foi sócio-fundador e CEO da Sensormatic do Brasil, líder em tecnologias para varejo, à frente da operação por mais de duas décadas. Atua há uma década na viabilização de projetos de alta tecnologia em energia limpa, novos materiais, imunoterapia e reflorestamento com madeiras nobres, e desde 2020 conduz o projeto Liberdade & Sonhos, voltado ao desenvolvimento na primeira infância.

Technical and Legal Team

A specialist in Environmental Engineering, Botany and Forest Production; master’s candidate in Agroindustry. At GWG, he is the technical lead for forest operations — environmental compliance, annual forest inventory, FSC certification and technical support to partner producers.
Responsible for field operations of GWG’s Mogno Bahia® plantings, from establishment to harvest. He supervises forest management, identifies risks and contributes to the selection and genetic improvement of the cultivar
Legal and Compliance Director of Grupo Cardway, with experience in corporate governance, compliance and regulated environments. She spent seven years at Grupo Toky, leading projects such as Mobly’s IPO (2021) and the acquisition of Tok&Stok (2024). She advises GWG on contractual and regulatory matters.
