Forest Biotechnology

The new source of noble timber

Advanced genetics and precision management enabling the production of noble timber at scale — on an economic cycle of about ten years.

Applied Forest Biotechnology

Transforming biological potential into predictable forest performance.

GWG (Genome Wood Group) develops proprietary genetics and precision management systems to turn biological potential into predictable forest productivity.

Mogno Bahia® — 2 years

Fazenda Forest, Serra Dourada — Western Bahia, Brazil

Mogno Bahia®

Premium by design.

Developed over four generations of genetic improvement within the Melia genus, Mogno Bahia® produces high-value tropical hardwood with physical properties validated by the Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas (IPT), achieving A and A+ quality grades under the GWG Protocol.

A new foundation for high-value tropical hardwood.

For centuries, high-value hardwood depended on natural forests and long biological cycles. Today, it can be produced at scale within a 10-year economic cycle.

Mogno Bahia® leads this transition.

GWG Forests · Fazenda Mahogany Santana

A new forest every year.

At Fazenda Mahogany Santana, in western Bahia, GWG runs a continuous forest expansion program, establishing 25 hectares of Mogno Bahia® every year. Each new forest expands the production base planned to supply the noble timber market.

From genetics to management and commercial harvests, every forest follows GWG production protocols, with traceability and technical oversight throughout the cycle.

Forest Investment

Take part in the expansion of our forests.

GWG is structuring investment opportunities in its forest expansion program for individual investors, family offices and strategic partners.

  • More than 30 years of genetic selection and improvement behind Mogno Bahia®.
  • Establishment, management and harvest carried out by GWG's own technical team, with an annual inventory of each forest.
  • Timber characterized in physical and mechanical tests by IPT, on samples from 7- to 8-year-old plantings.
